History & Background

The HP Prime is highly unusual for an HP calculator. The RPN is lacklustre, the LCD is a touchscreen, and there's no RPL?

You know what they say. If it doesn't look like a duck (It kind of does, but that's beside the point), doesn't swim like a duck, and doesn't quack like a duck, then it's probably not a duck. It's not an HP calculator.

Indeed, the Prime is made by contract for HP by a Czech company called Moravia Consulting, who also does contracts for Sharp and Rebell.

The differences between the Prime and home-grown HP calcs show here.

This Prime is the very calculator that started my collection.

Yes, I did have others before it - namely the TI-84+CE and the TI-Nspire CX II CAS - but those are eather boring calculators.

The Prime is so different and so much more powerful that it inspired me to start collecting.

And that's how we end up here.
